The Rowing Dock – Austin, TX

The kids were a bit skeptical heading into this adventure, but once we got there and they saw the lake, they started to warm up to the idea that it might be fun.

The dock offers plenty of souvenirs, though we didn’t partake. They also sell a small selection of snacks like KIND bars and such, which is nice if you plan to be out on the water for a long time. They also provide a variety of water proof pouches and bags for your belongings for a fee if needed, which is the only safe way you’re going to get all those insta pics!

I just loved the bright array of boats they had available. It was so fun and cheerful! I didn’t really know what type of boat would be best but they said kayaks were easiest if you have no experience. Turns out, they were right. Super simple and easy to do!

And the kids looked SO adorable in their life jackets. Just beware when you select yours, there are a rare few that smell like terrible B.O. Keep that in mind before you end up having to spend hours in something that nauseates you.

I was totally unprepared for just how much the kids would love this, especially Caroline. In fact, she loved it so much that she asked to go back every single day for the rest of the week that we were there. I did take her back once but I think we’ll have to plan on more time at the lake next time we visit Austin.
