Épicerie is a café and grocery in the Rosedale neighborhood of Austin, and I was really excited to try it out. In the end, I have such mixed feelings about this place. The adorable exterior and minimalist interior aesthetic were lovely. The vibe of the clientele is well-moneyed white people wearing athleisure. The menu is tempting with a solid variety of options to choose from, and the food we had was pretty good. The service was quite underwhelming and kind of blew it for me, and the wine pours are such a joke I actually laughed (it looked like a cup for a toddler).
I think my best assessment is that this cute spot is ultimately not worth going out of your way for, but if I were already in the area and hungry, it would be a decent place to grab a bite. I also loved the look of the cheese and prepared foods counters but didn’t have the opportunity to partake of these. I would like to try this again sometime and see if it could live up to its overflowing potential.
