Elizabeth Street Café is a gorgeous, light-filled cozy breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot in south Austin known for their báhn mì, phð, and pastries. Every city needs a spot like this one and if this beauty were in my ‘hood, I would become a regular without question. I was only able to visit once during our trip but I definitely plan to visit again someday and sample more of their fun and thoughtful menu.

- Elizabeth Street Café
It’s a fun neighborhood spot in a bustling area of south Austin. It was just a few minutes away from our AirBNB which was perfect for us.
- Elizabeth Street Café - bright and playful
I fell head over heels for this place just walking inside. Fun and colorful branding can be hard to do well, but they got it just right.

Seriously, how could you not smile walking through this door?

The interior design is like a cozy French café (or at least what I imagine one to look like), intermingled with Vietnamese accents throughout.

The Vietnamese iced coffee is fantastic, and a perfect way to jumpstart the day. Their cocktail list also looked wonderful but I didn’t have the chance to partake. I definitely hope I am able to visit again someday so I can sample even more of their offerings.

Their lemonade was also very good, which is important because lemonade is the best drink outside of coffee and alcohol when it is done right.
- Elizabeth Street Café - The neighborhood café of my dreams
Sitting inside of Elizabeth St. Café, all I could think about was how much I would adore having this in my own neighborhood. I have no doubt I would visit on a nearly weekly basis. The design aesthetic plus killer menu make it a perfect spot to meet up with friends or spend time with family.

Looking at this photo right now makes me want to hop on a plane back to Austin just for some of these incredible beignets. I mean, beignets are a great start as it is, but these are served with their housemade strawberry jam which hit me hard with nostalgia. It tasted exactly like the strawberry jam my grandma used to make, and the pairing of these two things together was out of this world.
- Elizabeth Street Café - Breakfast báhn mì
I love a báhn mì, and since I have yet to make a really amazing version at home that isn’t also incredibly labor intensive, I order them in restaurants whenever I have the chance. This breakfast báhn mì was pretty darn good with fried eggs and ginger pork sausage.

I tend to be more of a savory breakfast person, but I couldn’t resist a bite or two of Caroline’s Nutella crêpe. It was excellent, and made me want to try more of their lovely pastries.
