Here’s a look at our May through my iPhone/Instagram lens!

1. Submitted all my paperwork for my official full medical license, and received it the following week.  Big check and mark!
2. Ben ran the Indy Mini Marathon for the second year in a row.  Way to go, babe!  We weren’t able to go downtown to watch so we made him a big congratulations sign to greet him when he came home.
3. Best.face.ever.
4. I knit this throw blanket as a wedding gift for my brother and his new wife.  It turned out so nicely, I want to make one for us too!
5. I made lollipops as favors for the wedding reception.  They took for.ever. to make but I think they were worth it.
6. The wedding cake all set up in the reception hall.  Always a relief to get a cake to its final destination in one piece.
7. Married and loving it!  Such fun riding around in the limo afterward.
8. It was SO much fun having my BFF Bobbi and her awesome husband Mike photo-ing the big day.  I already knew they were awesome at their jobs, but they blew me away that day.  I felt so proud to know them!
9. Ben made me a super cute Mother’s Day card with the kids, including some statements from Andrew about me.  Some completely untrue (i.e. “Mommy’s favorite movie is Spiderman”) and some right on (“Mommy loves to cook macaroni”.) HA!
10. The lilac bush behind our house is one of my favorite things about spring.  I just wish they bloomed for longer than a week!
11. Caroline has been on a major kick wanting me to take her out on long walks.  Have to say, I’m loving it!  I love the time to chat with my girl.
12. Ben and I went to the wedding of one of my dear friends from high school and it was a blast!  The details were beautiful and so much fun!  We obviously enjoyed our complimentary shades.
13. The warmer weather means sometimes Caroline tolerates pigtails for longer than 10 minutes.
14. Andrew is my gardening buddy and he loves helping pick out plants for our garden!  He brought along a little caterpillar he made at school since, clearly, a caterpillar knows lots about gardens.  Melt my heart.
15. I bought this bookcase not long after Caroline was born and waited all this time to decide where to put it in her room.  Worth the wait – we both love it now that it’s installed :)
16. Despite her face her, Caroline also loves shopping for plants for the garden.
17. Rainy weekend = puddle play time.  This may have been one of the kids’ favorite days ever.  Simple pleasures.
18. Ben and I celebrated our eight year wedding anniversary.  These have been some of the best and worst years of my life, but immeasurably better because of him.  I’m a lucky, lucky girl.
19. Killing time in Target?  Have a fashion show!
20. Andrew modeling his new bathing suit.  Love the pose – totally makes me think of Zoolander.

What a gorgeous wedding cake! I’ve made a few wedding cakes, but haven’t used any fresh flowers on them yet. Hopefully soon!

  • Caroline L.

Congratulations on your medical license, what an accomplishment! And super cute recap – love seeing all of the sunshine!

  • Amie

    Congrats!!!!! :)

  • Liz N.

Congrats on your medical license! Woot! Happy wedding anniversary to you and Ben. My hubby and I just celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary yesterday! Eight years and 4 states later…I joke that by year 10, we’ll be living abroad! I love you lilac bush. I will miss ours here in Colorado. BTW, I’m looking forward to printing some particular images on canvas (wink! wink!) and putting them up in my new kitchen in Chicago!

That throw blanket is AMAZING. does it have a name or a type or a pattern that I can look into?

  • annieseats

Yes! Here is a link to it on Ravelry: If you click on the “Projects” tab, you’ll be able to find mine. I made significant modifications to make mine much larger than the original pattern since reading the reviews of others, it sounded like the original wasn’t quite adequate as a throw blanket. Let me know if you have any questions!

  • what a beautiful throw blanket … and congrats on your anniversary! We’re celebrating 8 years this year too.

  • Shannon

I’m sorry to ask another “where did you buy that” question, but I love your flower headband! Do you recall where it’s from? By the way, I found the white organizing boxes at Target…our bathroom drawers are so much better now!

  • Ashley

That wedding cake looks amazing Annie!! Any chance of a full post about it? :)

  • annieseats

I’m not planning on it, just because it’s three cake flavors already on the site. I don’t think the full cake would add much really. Sorry!

  • Diane

I love the bookshelf – where did you buy it?

  • annieseats

It’s from Pottery Barn Kids :)

  • annieseats

They are made by a local quilter/quilt shop owner called Crimson Tate. I buy them locally a little cheaper, but you can find them on Etsy here: (don’t think they have that specific fabric anymore).

Love your monthly recaps, Annie! SO wonderful to see you Sunday!!!!

  • Shannon

Thank you!! This is exactly why I love your non-food posts. Best way to great products is recommendations from others. :)

  • nessa

    Love the lollipops!

Dear Annie.. I adore your organized, neat and energetic life. I wonder how you may able to finish the paperwork, knit something while being in the kitchen for so long and spending time with your kiddos and husband at the same time. I am in need (Seriously) of reading a new post about how you manage things. Do you have a nanny full time, a continous cleaner or did you clone yourself? :) Pleaaase write… I also would like to put things in order and be able to spend time for all..

  • Charli Dickenson

Best face ever is amazing! Hysterical, and clearly a character!

Annie, how do you do your instagram collage? I love it! thanks! ~Jenn

  • annieseats

I use the program Lightroom to make it. It’s kind of too detailed to describe beyond that – sorry! :)
