There just aren’t enough milkshakes in my world, as far as I’m concerned.  It’s not that I don’t like them of course.  On the contrary, I loove them.  It just rarely occurs to me to make them.  A month or so ago, we were hanging out at home on a low-key weekend evening when suddenly I had the idea to make strawberry milkshakes for dessert.  Such a simple makeover of his usual favorite strawberry ice cream and I was instantly the coolest mom ever in Andrew’s eyes.  Milkshakes are definitely that much sweeter when shared with giggling little ones, and simple enough for a spur-of-the-moment treat.  Happy Friday!

  • 1 pint (2 cups) strawberry ice cream
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup milk

  • 01

Combine the ice cream, frozen berries and milk in a blender or food processor.  Puree until smooth and well blended.  Pour into chilled glasses and serve immediately.
  • Looks so delicious, and such a classic!

  • HAHAHA love the “Milkshake” song reference :-D

  • Delicious! We always opt for strawberry over chocolate and vanilla shakes so this is just perfect for us – double strawberry and all…yum!

  • These look oh-so yummy, and I love your presentation “plan B” with the napkins and straws, instead of the shot glasses. Thanks for sharing these, Annie!

  • Love, love the colors in your photo. Perfect for the subject. Can’t believe you haven’t bought ice cream at the store for two years. WOW!

This brings me back to my childhood when we would go get real milkshakes on Franklin Street in NC!

  • annieseats

    Well, thank you very much!

  • Sue Michaels

Love this! I adore that strawberry ice cream recipe- this looks even better! PS- How funny that the comments saying they are from a year ago?

  • annieseats

Actually they are that old! This was an older post that I updated with new text and a prettier picture because I thought it deserved it :)

  • sweetsugarbelle

Bernie loves basic strawberry milkshakes like this!!!

  • I was wondering that too! This picture sure is gorgeous and I want that shake right now!

  • Gorgeous shot! That strawberry ice cream is one of my favorites of yours. I used it to make the icecream-brownie-ganache cupcakes that you posted a long time ago, and everyone who ate them said they were the most amazing things ever :) I’ve made them three times total, and they never get old. I can imagine how awesome it would be in a milkshake, too!

  • I’m so in love with this picture.

  • annieseats

    Aw, thank you!

  • Luise Mitscherlich

This recipe is pretty easy and quick. I tried it today with vanilla icecream and frozen raspberries and it tasted very good. Love it! :)
